Lying low iN Oslo

Image
so we quickly figured that there wasn't much to the city of Oslo (for us)besides the regular old and new buildings, the big brand stores, the usual cathedrals and the city square.. But yes, therz more to the city and thats the marka (woods) sorrounding it :), so we've decided to do just that i.e. get into the woods for a few days...After talkin to a few local dudes, we have shortlisted a super beautiful place/lake called lutvaan to set up base and then do as many day hikes as we like from there...So prep for this began yesterday after chilling and layin low a few days at this beautiful PAID ekeberg camping site. We visited the city center just like the regualr tourists yesterday,However, the purpose was dual, ofcourse to see/walk the city AND visit DMT (not the drug..lol)office for more info on Marka i.e. Lutvaan and how to stay safe i.e. plant n animal hazards, drinking water source, trail marking system, emergency ctc no,maps. etc etc :)...dmt stands for norwegian trekking asso

!Yeah, the next day at Halden was pretty action packed at the town center..there was the tons of rock concert happening at the fotress, so we went there to take a peek, got a good view of the town from there..then there was the boat and food festival happening at the harbour, so enjoyed some live musik there.there was some truckers bash happening round the corner and a plenty more other gigs .... Anyway, we also managed to get a free warm shower at the grand hotel after requesting the manager :),this was long pending... Another pretty interesting thing happend this morning, at our camp came in a big guy and asked us to vacate the campin spot to go find a place somewhere else, not that he was rude or hostile in doin so,but just looked a lil determined :) he gave us another local add a few kilometers away to pitch our tent and said that place would be appropriate since this/current space was  private belonging to a trust, which ran the nearby museum and the five stone grave right nex

Thru Sweden to Norway..

So the bus from Copenhagen Denmark to Gothernbug was on time :)only with a short stop at the border to check passports.. This journey was however broken into a stopover at Malmo for 5 hours...Malmo is one of the bigger(third biggest) cities in Sweden and lil interesting with a high immigrant population and with a few hours to kill, was a good idea to explore.. So the first thing at the break was to find a place to stash our heavy backpacks somewhere so that we could walk easy...the first option we found was the grand central malmo rail station, upon enquiry the price stated to do that was close to our half a day's budget :),so ofcourse we ran away from there...then i thought we could google an indian resturant and try our luck there..so then the second option came up to be a resturant called green chillies :), close to 2km walk there the waiter (from syria) said the place was closed ,however, once he found out our intent,he took our request to the head chef,we said we could talk

Travel to and days in Copenhagen Denmark

From Bir to Delhi to Moscow to Copenhagen: Nope, this time we didnt take our car to Delhi.Yeah mainly because we aint travelling with our bike boxes :) but sure it feels a lil wierd to go without any loco i.e. bikes or paragliders :) Anyway, not like this trip aint gonna be challenging without em.Infact, this one i feel is the most challenging than our previous ones.."Hitchhikin the unknown" Also, our own personal commute is now replaced by our very own mobile bedroom and kitchen :) So the bus ride from Bir to Delhi isnt worth talking about, except the full moon under which the magnificent Dauladhar range reminded us very strongly the reason why our current base is beautiful Bir :) Anyway, the rest day in Delhi was definately worth it.Big thanx to Meenu's mom for feeding us such fab food :)..All of this rest and mom cooked food will be surely missed in the comin months.. Along with eating and resting well, last and final bits of our packing list was taken care off and

Trek to Thamsar..almost :)

The start was pretty normal, five of us plan and three make it.. Dont know why, but there was this slight bit of anticipation that this would happen. Meenu and me would have marched on any way as we were really itching to go,specially after our last attempt where we had to come back because of Eddie(our dog)..Novi (our friend) and her dog Chaos (dogs name) too were totally desperate for an outing i guess.. So yes, ours was a gang of three, three first timers and Chaos-the dog.Co-incidentlly the two friends who dropped out were the most expeienced/seasoned trekkers..This meant the entire plan, route, number of days etc had to be re looked at.. We started our discussion with a few route options. Considering  our experience, fitness and weather,we finalized a five night, six day short n slow trip to Thamsar pass n return from Bir via Billing.. From the time this route and date to go were decided, we had a days delay on account Novi's tent reaching Bir sent by a friend from uttrancha
