Two to Turku : Finland


So the boat from stockholm to Turku wasnt really a boat, but a big ass cruise..It had all the indulgence items that bores old people like us :)...what went wrong here was that we lost our cabin seats due to some date change madness,however the seated accomodation was nothing to complain about..I even got the sleeping bag out for Meenu and tucked her nice n easy for a few hours of good night sleep..what went right was that we had a few amerikan dollars sitting in our pocket which could be xchanged for sum euros to buy us some tempting food on the cruise...Not that we were not prepared, in fact we had our share of krackers ,cheese etc,but could not resist the yummy food being served :)
AFter a pretty interesting experience in the cruise for me, as it was my first.
The cruise docked at Turku harbour early mornin with a full cloud cover and strong winds making us super cold :)This we like, dont like it when its hot :)Next was figuring out a paid campin place to park atleast for a night, to clean, wash etc :)..so got that done...Bus ride max 2hour window was broken down into a first stop at the city center fo buy groceries,cash machine and then the next stop was the kampin place :) RUsiallo kampin
The first impression of Turku as a super laid back,sleepy town at the city center soon chANGED dramtikly as soon as we reached the kampin place...
OFCOURSE ther was a rock festival that ended just the day before, and man there was total mahem here...we saw people walkin like zombies, tents flyin like plastik bags, people sleepin on tents and not in em..total krazee kollege stuff :) :),loads of party, musik, drugs and alcohol...:)...
Now all of this is not so exiting when you kinda searching for a place amongst this madness a place to plant ur tent and sleep for a few hours !however, we kept calm and scouted the place to find a quite spot...An hour or so into our sleep and we were getting boiled inside there as the clouds were gone and the sun was out (such is scandinavian weather)...we then in half sleep had to pluck our skates out, pick the thing up by the ground sheet and throw it under a tree with some shade...In doin so, i lost my sleep and started doin this blog,while Meenu was fast into sleep mode again :):)
So for now the plan was to take a bath this evening, and move this shelter again to a proper grassy slope..after all its a paid site: damm it!!
Yes, then finaly in the evening we were shifted to a better spot with all our tent skates plugged inn and the evening tea with biskut:)
The next day was spent chilling at the beach(at the campin site a nice forested island 10km away from the city center) and planning transport to visit the city, buy some more ration and find a wild/free campin spot...
For transport and shopping to the city , we got the standard two hour bus ticket and for camping, we were lucky to find this amazingly beautiful spot next to the water,right outside the paid campin premise :)..
So we chill here for the nxt two days until our bus to Helsinki..the capital of Finland..

p.s..Big thank you to the fast food van guy..very kind of him to store our bags for a few hours...small space, big heart...

!Yeah, the next day at Halden was pretty action packed at the town center..there was the tons of rock concert happening at the fotress, so we went there to take a peek,got a good view of the town from there..then there was the boat and food festival happening at the harbour, so enjoyed some live musik there.there was some truckers bash happening round the corner and a plenty more other gigs .... Anyway, we also managed to get a free warm shower at the grand hotel after requesting the manager :),this was long pending... Another pretty interesting thing happend this morning, at our camp came in a big guy and asked us to vacate the campin spot to go find a place somewhere else, not that he was rude or hostile in doin so,but just looked a lil determined :) he gave us another local add a few kilometers away to pitch our tent and said that place would be appropriate since this/current space was  private belonging to a trust, which ran the nearby museum and the five stone grave right nex

Stopover @ stockholm Sweden ...

So the overnight flexibus from Oslo to stockholm was very comfy, super smooth except for no pee stops on the way and the stop over at Gottenburg (quite a rough city center at night)..we knw this place a lil too better with our maiden two days of stealth camping done here before on this trip.. Anyway, we found the cheapest bet at Mcdonalds to take a piss, thnx to Ganpati a Hyderabadi working there :) Early morning the Stockholm central staton was super busy,but luckily we were flowin in the oposite direction to the rats :).We got the cash machine, and a few veggies for cooking later that day and headed straight to Angbyplan(metro station) at ANgby campsite and the first thing that striked us about the city was the number of eye contacts, aknowledgement and helloz from people as compared Norway or Denmark... Planning,preparation,practice

As Indian travelers, the most difficult thing for us in any kind of foreign travel is acquiring a travel visa, gets more difficult with a developed country/region like Scandinavia. Gets even tougher for special people like us,with no solid jobs,nor a steady income to come back to :), and still wanna travel for months in a row... Anyway, we some how managed our way around it with whatever income. A few long and painful interviews with the visa officer and generous help from our friends in Europe and India...
